How To for a new user

Using v.16.38:

Under the View menu, the items "Show indent lines" and "Show vertical line at cursor position" are greyed out unless the current tab shows a code file. How can I add these display aids to another file type? They sometimes could be useful even with a simple text file.

Additionally, why can't the F1 key be remapped? I ran into this limitation with a different editor, but not all editors have this restriction.

You can't, because text files (with .txt extensions) are treated differently and it is hardcoded. I don't see the need to switch these lines on, either, but maybe there is? Anyway, file a feature request and we'll see
