Problem with Search (and Replace?)

If I do a search for " n" Case Sensitive, it is finding " N", too.
But then I tried it again, and it worked. (?)
BUT, non-sensitive search for "jacks" doesn't find "Jackson".
Encoding: UTF-8 (w/o BOM)
Newline Format: Unix/Linux/Mac OS (LF)
Note that version 16.36 couldn't find "née", but 16.38 does.
(I replaced all "nee" with "née", and then searched for "née")
Searching for "nee" does not find "née", and vice versa,
but that would require some kind of special search functionality
that supports multinational character equivalents.
(somehow Google search supports this)
