Marked special chars

Special Chars are displayed, even if the display of special chars is disabled. Is it a bug or a new feature ?
Here's a video that shows it...

You can change the behavior using the same options as you did with transparent selection
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5166.

Aha, now I've the last option in the selection-theme-options
But under these conditions, shouldn't the CRLF also be displayed as a special-char in empty lines ?
