'Smart Location' Search-Replace Dialog Box

Post by rjbill »

It would be nice if the Search & Replace Dialogue Box
moved out of the way when what it finds lands underneath it.
As close to where it was prior as possible.
Perhaps moving the cursor to where it was located in the Dialogue Box,
IF it is INSIDE the Dialogue Box,
if that is possible. (like over the Replace button, etc.)
I suppose as an option.

(I don't understand what the difference is between a Modal and Non-Modal Dialogue Box)
RJTE version 16.38 (Actual) - 64-bit
Win 10 Pro 64-bit 8 GB RAM Intel Core i7-6700 3.40 GHz SCSI Hard Drive 1 TB

Note: The signature is dynamic, not static,
so it may not show the correct version above
that was in use at the time of the post.

Modal means you cannot do anything else until you have dealt with what is in the pop up box. eg. If there is an error message then you have to click OK before you can proceed.

A non-modal box can float around independently, nothing needs to be dealt with and you can proceed with what you are doing.

Having the search box move to avoid it being on top of the text found is not a bad idea.
"Noli pati a scelestis opprimi"... or is it "non lacessit illegitimae te carborundum"?

I'm not entirely clear on what you mean :?

Are you using a non-modal search-replace dialog box?

The good thing about the non-modal window is that you can move it anywhere you want. And it stays there while you find/replace items in your text.
The next time you want to replace something it opens up in that same place.

So it should be simple to move the window out of the way, and keep it there.
