At least for Markdown syntax.
I opened a Markdown.syx in Syntax Editor and a message was displayed, informing me that it was old format and that it would be converted, so in order to not lose the old file I might want to save it with another name. I saved it -- without any change done -- with the same name in User defined folder. My markdown file immediately lost highlighting.
I opened both syntax files, old and new one. New one is slimmer (1296 vs. 978), and no surprise, as it lacks some sections, e.g. [Keywords] and [Block], and -- what is understandable -- [Fold]. Also [Options] lost some entries, but I surmise it's lack of [Keywords] that is crucial here... yup, that's it (I just copied the missing section over to the new file).
(I'm not sure if this is a new bug, but I guess so, hence I'm filling it in this board.)
