Re: FIXED: "Do you wish to activate..." with Makefile
This is pretty amazing... I've never realized how many commonly-used files with no extensions exist... Makefile is the only one that I'm familiar with, though I've heard of Hosts... What's also amazing, is that RJTE is, like, 50 years old, and this issue is only popping up now?? Anyway, I'm grateful...

FIXED: "Do you wish to activate..." with Makefile
A new feature was recently added to RJTE, where if we open a file with extension that is not known to RJTE, it opens a dialog asking: "Do you wish to activate highlighter for this file type?" This works nicely for file with extensions, but when I open Makefile, which does not have an exten...

Re: problem with Makefile files
Bump ??
I guess what I'm really asking for, is a way to set options (hard tabs vs spaces, in this case) for files which have no extension...

Re: jumping cursor issue (very sporadic)
I can't find anything suspicious in the code or otherwise. Are you by any chance using a laptop? The touchpad on mine sometimes drives me crazy  Nope, this isn't on a laptop, it's my desktop machine... It is very odd; I'm sure there is some specific action that triggers this, but I haven't ye...

Fixed: jumping cursor issue (very sporadic)
I have a weird bug that has recently popped up in the editor; I *think* it is only since the most-recent update... Sadly, I cannot reproduce it on demand, it only happens occasionally, so it may not be fixable until I can pin it down... What will happen is, I'll be typing something, I'll type a char...

Re: found: how to add another extension to a syntax file??
Okaaay... And why is it preferable to Environment > Add-ons > Highlighters > %lang% > File extensions > [ Add ] ? :? heh... because I couldn't find that option!! That was actually what I was looking for when I initially posted this, but then I went looking around the config files and found a hack t...

found: how to add another extension to a syntax file??
I want to associate .cxx extension with cpp highlighter...
Nevermind, I found it... edit _list.ver to include the extension under the relevant highlighter,
restart TextEd, say "yes" when asked if they should use the highlighter... done!!

problem with Makefile files
I use a version of the 'make' utility, which requires hard tabs (not spaces) on all indented lines... I have the editor set to replace hard tabs with spaces, which I *want* in source files, but not in the Makefile ... How do I set 'Makefile' (with no extension), and nothing else, to use hard tabs ??...

Re: question about chm help file
I can open mine alright, provided it is located in \Users\pjj\AppData\Roaming\RJ TextEd\help\RJ TextEd.chm Please check your path and filename (before it was called TextEd.chm). Okay, that answers my question... it goes in the config directory, not in the program directory... That's not where I wou...

Resolved: question about chm help file
Supposedly, in recent versions of RJTE, if the .chm help file is "available", it will be opened for F1 help requests instead of opening the web page. So I have 'RJ TextEd.chm' in my RJTextEd folder, but F1 does not open that, it just goes to the web page... I can open the .chm file itself ...

Re: different colors for different braces... that's weird...
I'm not sure why you're so upset. It's just a beta version? Anyway, there is an option (in the final version) in the "Environment -> Themes -> Customize..." dialog to turn it on/off. braceHighlightingOption.png Okay, yeah, everything is fine with 15.80... sorry for the neurotic reaction !!

Re: different colors for different braces... that's weird...
For now, I have reverted to V15.75, and turned off auto-updates... I'll wait for this weird multi-colored-braces change to be reverted, or at least have an option to avoid it... I need my syntax-hiliting selection (for Symbols) to be recognized... I realize that I'm thus missing out on some updates ...

Fixed: different colors for different braces... that's weird...
I don't know what to make of this change in 15.80... I actually selected the color that I wanted to use for all symbols, and I rather want the editor to use the color that I selected... different colors for different levels of braces, makes the code *harder* to read, not easier... Could I have an op...
